Anbesol contains a local anaesthetic (lidocaine hydrochloride) which works by helping to stop the sensation of pain. It also contains antiseptics (chlorocresol and cetylpyridinium chloride) which help protect against infection.

Directions

Adults: Apply undiluted to the affected area with a clean finger tip. Two applications will normally be sufficient to obtain relief. Use up to 6 times a day but not more frequently than every 3 hours.

Teething in babies and children from 5 months: Apply undiluted to the sore area of gum with a clean finger tip. One application will be sufficient. Use up to 6 times daily but not more frequently than every 3 hours.
